Dynamic vs Static database locations

Using Crystal Reports 10, can I "dynamically" select the database location depending on the user response to a parameter?

Sorta kinda...

You can use the Add Command, paste in your SQL and then build a parameter to use within your SQL.

Another approach might be to use a Stored Procedure as the datasource.

As above. Or use a Business View Dynamic Data Connection as this is exactly what it is designed to do.

Thanks both, but I don't know anything about a "Business View - Dynamic Data Connection. What is this?
 
I'm not a fan of the Business View as I think database objects should be on the database, but this is one nice aspect of them, here's a blurb on them:


Remember that later versions of Crystal may not support them (proprietary, CR 10 dropped the use of Crystal Query Designer).
