Is there any way to redirect dynamic DNS updates from a W2K or XP pro client to different zone? I am running BIND 9.2.2 on a linux box. I am wanting to keep the dynamic updates out of my main zone.
If you want to update to a different zone, in W2K, go to the DNS tab, change the "DNS suffix for this connection" to the suffix you want to use. Then check the box, "Use this connection's DNS suffix in DNS registration".
I'm asking the same question, however there is something else. For reverse lookup I can specify a domain (eg. users.domain.com, but what if my network, servers and DHCP servers are all using the same IP range? I don't want the full 192.168.1.X zone to be modified by DHCP. Is there a way to somehow make two zones, one for 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.99 (for network and servers) and one for 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.254 (for DHCP Range)? I want to eliminate any modifications to the zone where my servers are.
