Hello All! I have recently setup a new 2003 server.
I made a company.local domain and had it install dhcp and dns. I made the company.local domain be able to accept "secure and unsecure" updates.
I then made a workstation called work1. I did not join this pc to the domain. (Since I allow unsecure updates this should work right?) The workstation dns was entered as the ip of the dns server.
I then did an ipconfig/registerdns. I also made the "primary suffix" of this pc (company.local).
It does not create the A. record on the dns server. Nothing seems to work... What am I missing? The pc is currently a static ip, and bypassing the dhcp. But even static workstations can update their records right?
Does the record need to be created first? Before someone can update it??
