Dynamic Subtotals

What's the best way to dynamically build subtotals in Excel 2003 besides a macro initiating vba having to 1) select the name box for the dataset, 2) send keys to enable subtotals (can't find vb code for subtotals), 3) don't know how to apply a formula, simple division F8/G8 given row 8 is it, to a subtotal row, 4) formatting is lost.

Turn on your macro recorder and DO a Data/Subtotal on the sheet.
