Hi,

I am using crystal reports xi and uploading to crysal reports server (infoview) to run reports.

I would like users to be able to change dynamic parameters themselves without having to enter the password each time. DO you know if this is possible.

I have read on this site that it can be done within Business View Manager but I am not sure what this is as I only have infoview and Central Management Console.

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes, open the bv manager.
View > repository explorer
Each business view will have a few different parts, business element ends with 'BE', data foundation ends with 'DF', data connection ends with 'DC'. The first part of the name for each prompt group should be the same.

Find the data connection part of the business view you are dealing with. View the property browser.
In the password field - double click and a pop up will display where you can enter username, password and select 'never prompt'. > this should be the username for the data connection, such as oracle database. Save.

Thanks for this.

My repository explorer is not currently working in crystal (IT are trying to get this to work) and I assume that I need to log in to this before I can access the business view manager?

Are the repositary explorer and bv manager the same thing?

no, go into the businesss view manager. Under the menu item 'view', click 'repository explorer', it is a view box that will display with all your repository objects in it.

ps, I just saw in your original note you may not have access to business view manager. This is a utility / application loaded onto the business objects server. If you don't have access, your admin should be able to perform this change to the bus. views.

I see!

I have just found the BV manager (as a seperate program within crystal reports server).

Unfortunately I cannot access this for the same reason I cannot get into the repository but will give this a go when IT fix it.

Thanks for your help
