Okay. First off, it's not too hard to do (however, hats off to those who built it because it's beautiful and easy to use), it involves the masking capabilities of Flash (i believe) to make most of the animations. However, you will notice that when the mouse is over an open window the mouse constantly thinks it's over a button when it isn't (try it to see). This means one of two things (that I've run into). 1, that they accidentally made the entire movie a button (very doubtful), or (and this is very very likely), that the flash movies were imported into Director and compiled. When a Flash movie is imported into Director, you retain interactivity but for some reason the mouse does not indicate your over a button, so you have to script it in. Director is also how they manage to control frame rates and that sort of thing. I spent months racking my brain over how to do this sort of thing in flash, and as far as I can tell it can't be done (but you can load movies into other flash movies and into targets, etc. Go to to see this used). That's the sort of thing which director does. I hope this helps, and as far as I'm concerned you're asking all the best questions. Also, go to (or something like that. It's at the I.D. online best of web design section) to see this used really well. Some of these things can be done in Flash, for sure, using MIAWs, but it is much easier in Director, and takes up less space, due to scripting and tech stuff like that. Good luck, and I'd like to hear more info on this as well.
