Not sure if this is the right area for this question....I am trying to creat my own web page. I want to use my pc at home to host it. The problem is, well one I've never done this so dont quite know what I need to do, but also I have a cable modem with a dynamic IP.

Is there a way to put some code on my web page that finds whatever is my latest IP address? Is this a stupid question? I need as much info as any of you can give me.

currently running windows ME.

Use a simple program such as DynSite (search google for it). It can update your dynamic IP address too. There are other programs around that will do it too.

Hello,

I would HIGHLY recommend scrapping Windows ME if site reliability is a factor.

Use a win 2k or nt workstation at least if not the server versions.
Then get a copy of apache for win32, or uuh may I mention you can use Microsoft PWS or IIS < NOT a good choice.

Then I would goto and purchase the $35 DNS-Only service & Registry Fees package which includes yourdomain.com for 1 year.

Search this site for tutorials and tips to get started. Apache can be a headache at first, I suggest getting the Apache for Windows Little Black Book.

Almost forgot, set up a firewall or you could have some problems

Just Some Ideas :)

Good Luck, let me know if I can help
