MAJOR NEWBIE:
I want to start my own web server and wanted to know whether win2k server has a dns program to trace the IP address since I have a dynamic IP. If not, other than going to a third party tracer how can I configure that?

Or, is it possible to puchase static IP's or to lease them? What do you guys do?

And pretend I just learned what the term PC means =) (basic as possible)

When ever you going to host a web site that is accessible from the internet you should have a static IP address.

There are DNS servers on the web that support dynamic IP address and allow the client to change the IP address on the DNS Server which host you DNS records that point your domain name to your dynamic IP address

Yes you can lease ip addresses from ISP's check with them and they will propaply host your Domain Name as part of the price.

plus if you are going to host your own websever you need to pay close attention the security of your web server and check for updates all time.
Reason why, the last thing you want is to be one of those folks which help in the spred of the next Code Red like worm virus. Because they were to dam lazy to fix their web server when the patch was out for serval months prior to the release.
