Dynamic FQDN registration of VPN clients

We are struggling with configuring our PIX to dynamically update our MS DNS when a new client VPNs into our PIX.

We have an internal VOIP communications application which needs to talk directly to the client. The client, of course, receives a new IP address during each log in, so we need to use FQDN.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Just a guess here... If they are Win2K clients perhaps an "ipconfig /registerdns" statement in the login script would help.

These are MS Windows workstations but IP config does not seeem to even recognize the Cisco VPN IP addresses.

HI.

What protocol is your VOIP application using?
If it is a standard protocol that the pix has fixup for, it might work without the DNS registration if you configure the application or VOIP server that way.

You can consider using a different VPN server instead of the pix itself.
The Cisco VPN server can provide predefined ip address to each user. MS VPN server (RRAS) can also do it (I think).
