Hello All! I have recently setup a new 2003 server.
I made a company.local domain and had it install dhcp and dns. I made the company.local domain be able to accept "secure and unsecure" updates.

I then made a workstation called work1. I did not joing this pc to the domain. (Since I allow unsecure updates this should work right?)

I then did a ipconfig/registerdns. I also made the "primary suffix" of this pc (company.local).

It does not create the A. record on the dns server. Nothing seems to work... What am I missing? The pc is currently a static ip, and bypassing the dhcp. But even static workstations can update their records right?

Does the record need to be created firts? Before someone can update it??

Woops this was supposed to go in windows 2003 forum.
