I have a control file to specify the start and end generation of GDG to be concatenated. Is there any way we can concatenate a particular generations and give it as a single DD statement in the JCL dynamically. That single file is to be used in COBOL program. Urgent please !!!

Hi Max,

Don't think there's a straightforward way of concating partial entries odf a GDG.

You could write a cobol pgm to create the individual DDs to concat from your cntl file. Just create & write the JCL to the internal reader, e.g. //JCLOUT DD SYSOUT=(*,INTRDR). This will submit the JCL written to JCLOUT to the JES Queue when you close the JCLOUT file.

HTH, Jack.

At the point when you would normally record your ending generation #, can you just concatenate all the existing generations and copy them to a single new file (it could even be a separate GDG) and then clear out your GDG group and start over?
