Dynamic Alpha values for buttons 1

OK - I've managed to get movie clips to have their alpha values to be set dynamically, but I cannot get a button to do the same. I have a quiz "engine" that retrieves the questions and answers from a database. Most of the questions are multiple choice (4 selections) but occasionally will have a couple of true/false questions. As it is now, the T/F winds up with 2 blank check boxes. This seems to be causing confusion among the masses.

Is there any way to set the alpha value of a button via a variable?
