I just bought a new Viewsonic VP2030b LCD monitor that can display up to 1600x1200 resolution but can't seem to get the DVI-D to work.

My Nvidia 6800GT has a DVI out and so does my monitor. I'm currently using the DVI cable that came with the monitor, but every time I turn it on, it says DVI-A. I try to manually select the input but it says that it can't find a signal for the DVI-D.

I don't get it. I'm not even using a DVI analog converter...

Any ideas?

skwurl,

This monitor supports true DVI-D signaling.

NVidia actually provides their technology to many manufacturers. I would check the actual support for who ever actually produced your card. (PNY, ASUS ???) Most current implementations have a DVI-I connector that might require enabling,

DVI-I connectors are designed to carry both digital and analog signals while DVI-D connectors are designed to carry digital-only signals.

As you monitor is not finding a DVI-D signal that is whee I would start.

Hi,

My actual card is the XFX 6800 256 pci-e. I'll check their forums for an answer.

So you think my cable is a DVI-I cable instead?

In the nView Display Mode settings menu you choose Analog Display or Digital Display (you want Digital).

A DVI-I cable has both capabilities so that should not be an issue.

I don't see a display mode anywhere. Can you take a screen capture for me?

skwurl,

If you have installed the full Nvidia support, there should be a control panel like app in the bottom toolbar.

This NVidia app allows many video settings and is what Frank4d is referencing

I know where the GeForce settings are, but I don't see any tabs that allow the enabling of a DVI-D output.

I have updated all the recent forceware drivers, but still can't see anything. I have also enabled the desktop managment.

I have the same problem with my VP2030B and my MSI Nvidia 6200TC (128MB) card. Did you figure out how to get the DVD-D working?
