Trying to find an adaptor to allow a monitor with 15-pin VGA plug to connect to a Dell equipped with a Radion X1300 PCI-E which has a DVI output. This particular DVI output socket looks different to many others I've seen in that it doesn't accept the flat blade that many plugs have.

Perhaps this type of connector has a special name or derivation with which I'm not familiar...? Any clues as to where I might find one in the U.K.? Doesn't have to be a small all-in-one adaptor - can be on a the pigtail lead if necessary.

Correct. I don't have it in front of me right now, but as I recall the socket is populated entirely with three rows each with eleven holes. The corresponding plug is minus only one pin in the bottom lefthand corner (looking at the diagrams pictured in your link).

The small horizontal flat spade connector (on the lefthand side as per diagram) will not fit.

Ben, I was beginning to wonder if this was a product unique to Dell. I think this is what's needed... Will pass on the details to the user who can check it out with Dell.

Roger, we had a DELL at our shop a few months ago, and as soon as I read that it was not a regular DVI plug, it rang a bell...

Then I had to take out the card (it also had onboard graphics) so that I could reinstall the OS...

For practically the same price as this adapter cable you could opt for a considerably faster and more capable graphics card, with the added bonus of both standard VGA and DVI output sockets.
It simply doesn't make sense to buy that adapter cable given these and other choices, see:

I'm sure if required....there are low profile options as well.

Martin, you're right about price and spec. However, I'm coming at this from the angle of a user's machine brought into the workshop, invariably minus the pigtail lead or adaptor.

Good thought though, thanks...

I C......so this looks to be one of the many bits and pieces needed in order to offer a service to the public, although you could argue that it should be chargeable as it is unlikely to be ever used again.
I suppose another more sensible option would be to insist the customer brings in his or her monitor at the same time 'otherwise' the repair cannot be undertaken.
