Recently installed a new All in Wonder Radeon 7500 w/64MB DDR Ram. The card works great with one exception. When attempting to play a DVD movie using the ATI DVD player software (version 7.5 I believe)the movie starts as normal but about 10 to 30 seconds (time varies)into the movie the computer quits responding and crashes to a blue screen. The message on the blue screen reads something to the effect that the Driver (video card driver) has got caught in an infinite loop. It suggests updating the driver and/or updating the bios. This problem also occurs when playing DVD from Windows media player with the same blue screen message.
Have contacted ATI via email twice and they have sent numerous suggestions which I have tried to no avail. They have a faq on their website that references the exact problem but the suggestions found there did not improve the situation either.
The card is on IRQ 10 by itself.
The DVD ROM drive is set as secondary/master.
Have loaded the latest drivers from ATI (posted on their website Feb 14,2002.)When I updated to this driver the problem improved a little - the system doesn't crash until about 60 to 90 seconds into the movie.
Am using the latest bios available from MB manufacturer
Have updated chipset AGP drivers from ALI website.
Driver from AMD for Athlon is loaded.
System specs are as follows.
350 watt PS
Soyo k7ada MB / Ali Magic 1 chipset
256MB 2100DDR Ram
LG DVD Rom
Athlon XP 1700+ Processor
40 GIG 7200 RPM HD
Soundblaster live sound card
Operating System - WinXp PRO
No overclocking
Any suggestions to correct this problem would be appreciated. The card works great otherwise but need to be able to play DVDs on the computer.
