DVDrw writes CDs but not DVDs anymore!?

I have a memorex DVDrw working for a year now. Today it gets an immediate error READING the file to burn. It burns a CD ok. It reads a DVD ok. I tried Fireburner and Roxio, both get an error. The DVD is a 2ndry master with a CDrw slave. I pulled the CDrw, no help. I moved the DVDrw to the Primary slave, no help. I put the DVDrw into another system, it works fine. Device mngr shows no problem. I can only think to reload Win2k. I can think of no software lately that may have interfered. Anybody seen this b4?

Leave fireburner, but uninstall Roxio. To do so, go here and follow the directions:

The steps pretty much apply to Roxio Easy CD version 5 as well if that's what you have. It appears that you have a registry setting that is corrupt, which explains why the drive works on another PC.

After removing Roxio completely and rebooting, see if fireburner still works.

Removed roxio 6, deleted folders, renamed files, cleaned registry, rebooted. Fireburner failed the same:
