I'm having problems mounting my Internal Slimline DVD-ROM (Atapi) for the Sun Fire V210 running Solaris 8. Does anyone know the unix commands to make this work? I've tried:
$ mkdir /cdrom
$ mount -F hsfs -o ro /dev/dsk/"Don't know how to find this" /cdrom

Also does anyone know how to find the cdrom from the /dev/dsk? Any help would be much appreciated?

fvctrn;

did you check to see if volmgt is running?

cd out of cdrom

stop and start volmgt

/etc/init.d/volmgt stop
/etc/init.d/volmgt start

then check to see if cd contents are there.

thanks

do this command :

iostat -En (look for the cxtxdx where you see the cdrom)
(possibly TEAC)

mount -F hsfs -r ro /dev/dsk/cxtxdxsx /cdrom/cdrom0

Another command you can use with the Solaris Volume Manager is volcheck...

I would also check to see if the OS sees the device.. From the oK# prompt, run probe-ide-all.

I have seen problems with the V210 and the slim line DVD/CDROM drive. Had to return them to Sun because of the problem.

Did this DVD come with the system? I had a problem with using a DVD for a 440 in a 210, figured all cd-roms would work, but they did not. Usually cdrom drives are c0t6d0s0 I believe.
