DVD-writer problem

I got a problem on installing dvd writer as a 2nd drive. i have 2 media drives. one is a cd writer drive and the other one is dvd writer. i make the cd writer as my master drive and my dvd writer to be my slave drive. the cd writer drive works fine... but now i can read everything on the dvd drive but...there's no sound when i play my dvd... unless other formats i can play such as avi, mpg, and others... the only file i guess should be .vob which means the file on the dvd itself rite? what should i do? find a driver for the sound? or update my software?


help me ASAP!!!

Enable digital audio, which should be an option under the drive's properties in Device Manager.

Without this setting enabled, sound is transferred over an analog connection to the sound card. Most likely, your CD-writer already has this wire running from the back, but your DVD-writer doesn't. The digital audio setting gets around this.

If that's not it, uninstall/reinstall your DVD decoding software (PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc)

still i got this problem fer now... i change the settings on my dvd writer and cd writer drive..



dvd writer : MASTER
cd writer : SLAVE

CD WRITER audio cable fix to audio in sound card
DVD WRITER audio cable fix to auxiliary in sound card

still no sound coming out from dvd writer i meant when im playing a dvd...


then the next step i include enabling digital audio, which should be an option under the drive's properties in Device Manager.

then still there's no sound... im really confused on it now.. on what to do next?

AS cdogg mentioned uninstall\re-install dvd decoding software and perhaps even your sound card drivers.
Is this onboard sound, or onboard sound with an add-in sound card of your own, or just add-in sound card?

Analog audio only travels to the sound card over that audio cable when you are playing something that has the option of going either way. CD's are a prime example. Pop in a commercial music CD (store-bought) and see if you can get sound to play.

If you can, then you know the problem is not the audio cable or digital audio.

If you can't, then you still have many possibilities. At this point, you would want to uninstall/reinstall the DVD software. If you have more than one installed, uninstall all of them and just install the one that came with the dvd-writer.
