I am in no way a media guy. But I am helping with our new church web site. We would like to convert our weekly sermons from DVD to a wmv file to be streamed on the web. I have tried about three softwares and they all stop at the same place. About 90 seconds into the copy process. The audio visual guys at church say they don't know what they are doing when they put it on DVD that would make it do that.

Can anyone help? Very desperate.

Here's your old thread from a couple weeks ago, by the way:

You need to be specific on what you've tried so far if you want non-repetitive advice. For example:

1) What were the three software programs called that you've tried so far?
2) How long is the video?
3) Does the DVD play fine on the PC and in a standalone DVD player?

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry for the repeat. I am trying to maybe say it differently.

I used DVDx, ImToo and Video Convert Master.

I was able to go as far as I wanted to with another video of my son's basketball game from his school. I am not sure how the coach recorded it.

The video is an hour. It is on a read only disc that was given to me from our A/V department at church.

Yes, the DVD plays great. We watched pretty much the entire thing on our home entertainment center.

I got a second DVD from our A/V department at church of another sermon and it did the same thing.

I am sure it has something to do with the way they are saving it, I just don't know what.

They are using Nero to burn the video on to the DVD disc.

Thanks again.

There's a little program that I use for converting DVDs to WMVs for viewing on my PDA (what a lot of acronyms!) so that I can watch them on the train. It's called Pocket DVD Studio and you can find it here:

Pocket DVD Studio

Even though it's designed for making files that will play on a PDA it should also do what you're after. It's not free but it is cheap.

Does the DVD have a VIDEO_TS folder with *.VOB files within it?

If so, then it would seem that the DVD is in the standard format. Assuming that's the case, then it wouldn't make sense that you would have problems with this DVD but not with your son's basketball game DVD.

Perhaps it would help to copy the files to your hard drive and then use one of those 3 programs to convert the video.

I get "Sample not found or audio decoding error. It happens sometimes at beginning or end of movie..."
