So I finally installed XP sp2. My AOPEN CDRW/DVD ROM was working fine. Then I did some clean-up including defragging my registry (includes purging my temp files) and hard drive. Now although set-up recognizes that I have the CD drive, it says there's a problem with my driver. I thought perhaps upgrading my cd would fix the problem. So exited my old CD rom and installed a Sony DRU-830A dvdRW drive. Once again, set-up recognizes the drive, but windows does not recognize a valid driver. How can I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: Have a custom built P-IV 3.0Ghz system with GT6600 Video, 1G ram, and Audigy sound card. Am running XP professional 32 bit.

See if this works:
Press and hold the F8 key during startup, select "Last known good configuration", and press Enter.
