G’day,
In my COMPAQ Presario, Model S4020WM, WIN XP, I Installed a DVD-ROM. Restarted the computer, Win XP Identified that I had installed a new device, I went to device Manager, the DVD-ROM was there, no conflicts, said it was operating properly. I tried to play a DVD, get a message that says there is no DVD in the drive. I reinstalled the driver, get the same messages. Have I missed something? Thank you.

P. S. There is 3 sets of jumper pins, I tried each position, restarting after each change. The power indicator light comes on each time as well.

Make sure all of the drive's cables are securely connected.
If ok, then connect a different power lead to the drive.
If no luck, then install a different known working IDE cable.
If still no good, then see if the drive works in another system. If not, then it's probably bad.
