I have a LG DVD \ CD-RW combo drive. I am having a recent problem. When I play DVDs it can play fine for 30 minutes and then suddenly stop and become bitty and pause and then play for a second and then pause again. Its really annoying The picture quality also breaks up sometime. Does any one know why this occurs, is this anything to do with the DVD protection or is it something else ?

Make sure that all cables are securely connected to the drive.
If they're ok, then connect it to a different power cable.
If no luck, then try a different IDE cable.
If still no good, then see if cleaning the lens helps.
If nothing works, then the drive may be bad.
