I have a COMPAQ Presario 1692 and having upgraded to OS from 98 to Win-ME. The CD ROM drive is a Toshiba SD-c2202.
It recongnizes CDs but it is not finding DVD's.

The drive whirls with a DVD in it but does not play the DVD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Greg

Did you load the proper drivers for the DVD-Rom? maybe ME just detected it as a CDrom and loaded generic CDrom drivers for it, I would remove the device from the Device manager and restart windows, when it comes back up it will autodetect and try to install the right drivers again, just point the installation to your driver disk and you should be alright
