dvd-ram problems after updating to xp pro

i just updated a laptop with a dvd-ram drive to xp pro from xp home. the dvd-ram no longer works. it still reads dvds and data or audio cd's. when dvd's are put in windows media player the title is simply D (the drive obviously). it wont seek anymore. the drivers are all updated. any suggestions??

You might try checking for a firmware update on the DVD drive.

Many of the DVD-RAM drives did need extra drivers from the manufacturers to work with XP. You'll also need to disable the built-in cd burning utility that Microsoft put in XP.
