You didn't specify whether it's for a laptop or desktop, or what type of connection. Make sure you pick the correct connection (IDE vs SATA) or slimline for laptop... just make sure it's compatible with your laptop if that's the case.
If your computer is a laptop, you may be best off looking on eBay for the correct drive.
Or if you can't find that, then you'd need to look for an external DVD burner.

Yes, it will normally be labeled with "DL" on the front somewhere. The one I'm looking at right now says "RW" in big letters and right below that it says "DVD+RW DL".
Also if you know for a fact that the drive is less than 3 years old, then there's a 99% chance it supports dual-layer.
