I'm new to this forum and hope someone out there can help. I've been trying to solve this problem for the past 2 weeks and am at my wit's end!
I have a Sony DCR-PC9 digital video camera and have connected it via i-Link to my HP Omnibook 6000 laptop via a SIIG PCMCIA Firewire card. When capturing DV from my camera into Premiere I get an artifact that flashes on the picture every second or so. The artifact consists of flashes of pixels in a random checkerboard-like pattern. This is associated with an audio popping sound. This also occurs with several other video editing programs (including MGI VIdeowave that came with the camera). I have replaced the camera and tried several other Sony models, have replaced the PCMCIA Firewire card with 2 others (including another one manufactured by Adeptec), changed the Firewire Cables twice and still...I have the problem. My operating system is Windows 2000 Professional and in the Device Manager I am using as a video driver: IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller - VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller (Microsoft v. 5.0.2183 - 11/14/99)
I have called Sony, SIIG, Adeptec, Hewlett Packard tech support and have gotten absolutely nowhere. I'm hoping that someone out there in the Internet ether can help me. As of right now, my camera is useless without being able to capture video with out the artifact.
Thanks in advance!
