Hello,

I have tasks that have the same start/end dates, as well as same durations. The resources assigned to the tasks are also the same. I've changed the resources to account for 200% effort. I've also tried establishing predecesors. However, the durations still do not add up properly. Please help...

Since duration is the difference between the start and end date then two tasks with exactly the same start and exactly the same end will always have exactly the same duration.

If you've been using predecessor/successor relationships for one task and simply entered the start and finish dates for the second task then it is possible that the first task starts part way through the day so there will be an "overflow" on the finish date.

Task1: Start Monday 8:00AM; work 8 hours; Finish Monday 5:00PM - duration is 1 day.

Task2: Start Monday 1:00 PM; work 8 hours; Finish Tuesday 12:00PM - duration is 1 day.

If you force Task2 to finish Monday at 5:00 PM then the duration will be only half a day.

To see if the problem is caused by this issue click on Tools | Options and select a date format that includes the time.

Otherwise, your description so far is of little help in diagnosing the problem. Please provide dates, times, durations, work, resources and the actual numbers that appear for each.
