Which one would you use in your facility? We normally use the DECT stuff, but its pretty spendy for the amount of phones we put in. We might be better off with just 3 durafons? Any suggestions?
We recently installed a couple of Durafons, they work OK.....but we have had to swap out both handsets (bases are fine) as they are pretty poorly built/fragile it seems (compared to other DECTs we've used) and they aren't cheap
Whats your recommendation for Cordless in a facility??
I have used Avaya DECT R4 for years, its simple to install, never have issues really...just costs an arm and a leg. We are putting 20-25 base units in each facility, for 6-8 phones....but they need the ability to take a call on every portion of the site...so we are limited to what we can sell.
Stick with the DECT R4, the Durafons do not cover as far as you would think in buildings and they cost a lot for what you get. All decent DECT systems are expensive, going cheap will not do you any favours and the customers will not thank you in the long run
1) The customer does not have the ability to work out the extension has logged out to no user after a reboot and log it back in with the correct user.
If this is hospitality or medical, this crap becomes priority 1.
2) Repair or replacement is a difficult. Quite often faulty handsets in our region need to be sent to Singapore for testing and a new second hand handset is issued. Your original handset is repaired and issued to some other poor schmo when their's is faulty.
Just a thought, you could get an Ascom SIP handset solution which integrates with the IP Office with 3rd Party SIP endpoint licenses.
I don't know how well the Kirk does with the IP Office. They were very fiddly back in the early 2000s.
I have a install of a Polycom/Kirk 6000 SIP DECT coming up. It works fine but I can't tell how durability is like. It is new for us too.
Configuration is easy and straightforward, it will replace a Kirk Z-1500 analog box which is used by well over 10 years and the customer has always been happy with it.
