Duplicate versions of Outlook.exe open in Task Manager

I have seen on a couple of computers where Outlook.exe is listed multiple times in the task manager, but the program was only openned once.

The user has to end the process of all but one Outlook.exe to work correctly.

Strange if you ask me.

This is generally seen when either:

1) Someone is using a macro to send mail via outlook and the code does not quit the application afteer it has sent the email

2) The user has ended the application in an abnormal way such that it does not close down properly
