This is a followup question to one that I posted here last week. I have more information and need answers.

We have a Pervasive 2000i Database that is updated through a vendor (Sustain Court Management Systems). They have upgraded the operating system, and many of the database files that are used for our Crystal Reports (Version 8.5.0.217)

After upgrading the software, and the database we encountered a problem with updating our reports. It was assumed that this was an alias file verification problem, but it is not.

What the situation is -- is that the vendor has created a duplicate copy of many of the files to "help" with Crystal Reports generation. These may look like alias file definitions but in fact they are not. If you look at the data dictionary, they are listed as pointing to the same file location, but after the database is updated, and you run verify database in Crystal Reports, the additional fields that were added to the main data file do not show up in the copied or additional listing of the file.

Example: I have a code table file listed as Code Table. However, there are 16 other listings within the database of this file pointing to the same file location: (Code Table 01, Code Table 02, Code Table 03, all pointing to the same physical location of Code Table)

The vendor's solution to this "problem" is totally unacceptable. They suggest that we take the Code Table 01, etc, out of the report with all of the fields and then add the code table 01 back into the report as an alias file or something similar to that. Since we have over 1400 Crystal Reports that is something that is totally impossible to do because it would take months to reconstruct everything to the correct format.

When you look at the copies of the file in the database, they appear to NOT have been updated, so I made the suggestion that we add the fields in manually to correct this. However, the vendor insists that this is not a "proper" solution and that the problem is that Crystal does not recognize the copies of the file definition as being updated when the main one has been redefined.

Personally, I don't know what to think and I am asking for anyone out there to please give me any solutions that I can us other than to disect my Crystal Reports and put them back together again.

1. Is this a Crystal Reports Problem? Does Crystal Reports not understand that Code Table 01, is actually the same definition of Code Table, or is this a reasonable argument on the part of the vendor?
2. What solutions do you suggest for me to deal with this situation?
3. Is this a Pervasive problem? (doesn't seem like it to me, but I'm open to any suggestions)

Thanks, CeCe Sweet
