Hi,

We have a problem here where we had to rebuild a server from scratch due to hardware problems. We rebuilt and restored and it all looked ok UNTIL we realised we put the server object into a seperate OU to the one it was in orginally. Since doing so we have had a few problems but mainly people cannot print now and we are having trouble re-creating the queues etc. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can resolve this situation (ie, delete the second server object?? or by using DSMAINT)

We really appreciate any help given.

Thanks

Tony Mancini

You should be able to remove the failed server from NDS by using NDS Manager but ensure you delete the failed object from the original OU and not the new one. I'm not too sure if this will resolve all of your issues but deleting it from NDS Manager is probably the most secure way of getting rid of it.

the queues will be hosed unless you had pointers
i dont think you will have these if you've reinstalled

delete the redundant server objects etc and make sure that all obituaries are gone and that the old server is gone from all replica rings

make sure it's the right one

would recommend using ndps instead of queues - so much easier and quicker to flip to another server etc
