Greetings friends,

I have two Unix Servers, OS=SCO Unix Sys V ,and have got TCP/IP installed onto both of them. I rarely shutdown these 2 servers. But few days ago, after installing some programs, i have to re-linked kernel and reboot.

I have noticed that an error mesg appears on one of the machine stating that their is a Duplicate of Serial Number on hostname:XXXXX with IP addres XX.XX.XX.XX with serial DATXXXXXXX

In fact it's true that i have used the same TCP/IP program to install on both servers. I bought that a fortune 4 years ago.

Is there a possibility to stop these messages to appear on the console, ( obviously ...do not tell me to un-install it on one of the machine ) ?

Thanks for your input,
Regards.
Salim

What does uname -X show on both servers? If they are the same serial number - sorry, get a valid license from Caldara for the 2nd machine and re-install. Pat Welch, UBB Computer Services

Hi Patw,

Thanks for your input.

SCO been taken by Caldera if am not wrong. However, SCO Unix Sys V-Release 3.2.4.2 is no longer supported. My system is actually configured on this OS.

Will caldera ready to sell another license of SCO TCP/IP for above mentioned OS ?

Please keep me informed ASAP + any hyperlink you can give to me would be of great help.

Many thanks.
Salim

You can buy TCP/IP for 3.2v4.2 on e-bay. Packages are selling for around $25.00 US.
Search criteria SCO.
On the OS side , you can re-serialize , but I don't know if you can do it to the TCP package, so you might be forced to reinstall. Ed Fair
