Hello all. Using Crystal XI. I've got another little thing here. I have a running total that summarizes the field Observations.ObservationID. It's a count summary. It counts only those items that the Observations.TemplateItem = 0. This running total basically serves as the item number for an observation. What I want to do is have the item number be listed again further down the report when the Observations.Score = "4) Unsatisfactory". Basically it's just a recap at the end of a report. Or is there a better way to number the observations so I can accomplish this goal? I hope this made sense. Please let me know if further details are needed.

Thanks for the help,
Chris

It does seem a little vague. Are you saying that you have a running total that counts each observationID? Or are you numbering each observation unless it is unsatisfactory?

Our users are writing their report in a separate program. Each item is given an observation ID (Observations.ObservationID) to make it unique. In this program as well, they have a checkbox Observations.TemplateItem) that must be unchecked in order for editing of an item to take place. The running total counts each observationID when the TemplateItem value = 0 (being unchecked). So this will encompass all items no matter the score, providing the TemplateItem value = 0.

I would have preferred to just number the items by the ObservationID, but as the numbers may not be sequential (i.e., ObsID #3 & #5 have a Temp.Item value of 0 but ObsID #4 does not) I needed another way to simply number the items. The count was the simplest thing I could think of.

However, what I was looking to possibly design was basically a recap at the end of the report. So the body of the report is using the running total to just number the items that meet the above specs. The recap would also throw in one more requirement that if an item's score (Observations.Score ) is Unsatisfactory, the corresponding item # (not ObsID...just the number given from the running total) would be inserted in this recap.

If anything, what I would be looking for is an easier way to possibly number the items in the body of the report so a corresponding item number could be thrown in the recap should the score be low enough as well.

Hope these details are a little better.
