Duplicate read reciept

Hello, I have a user who, on a weekly basis, gets a duplicate of a read receipt that was sent with a message which went out 6 months ago. The receipt is always back from the same recipient (there were multiple recipients to the message). I'm at a loss on how to delete or prevent this.
