I have set up a new FTP site on my server fine but cannot set up a second, when i try i get a message saying a duplicate name exists so cannot be started. When i try to start it i get a message saying that i can only have 1 FTP siteper IP address and port value so how do i set up multiple FTP accounts when i just have the one IP address? I think i should be setting up multiple accounts under the default FTP site but cannot find a way of doing this.

I'd really appreciate any help on this, i know it must be simple but it seems to be beyond me...

thanks

mike

The error you are getting does not have to do with users. It has to do with limitations of FTP as a TCP/IP protocol. For each FTP virtual server you create, you must have either a unique IP or a unique port, or both.

The default IP is [red](All Unassigned)[/red]
The default port is [red]21[/red]

If you are going to assign unique IP addresses to each FTP virtual server, you will have to assign multiple IPs to your NIC first. Contact your network administrator for a valid IP.

If you are trying to set security, then simply create the users through computer management and assign them appropriate rights to the FTP folders in NTFS.

Good Luck!
