Duplicate messages appear in Netscape 7.1 inbox

I have networked my mail folders in this office and it seems when the Compress folders function occurs, messages show up in duplicate or triplicate in the inbox. The time stamp on the messages are identical. If the user selects File, Compact Folders or leaves the inbox and opens Sent, or Trash, etc., this usually fixes the display problem. However it is a continual annoyance.
Does anyone have an answer?
