At the weekend we moved SMTP addresses from one remote site to another. This was all done quickly, with much manual forcing of replication. There are 2 key replication hub sites. Now it seems that some of the servers downstream got confusued during this move, and are showing duplicates for all SMTP addresses that were moved - one entry for the source site and a correct entry for the new destination site.
Now forcing replication/consistency checks/knowledge consistency checks on the servers in the sites affected has no effect. It is almost like Exchange couldn't keep up with the changes and has now given up.
The result is that there are now 2 near identical entries (Alias, Display Name, SMTP Address all identical) in the GAL at affected sites and I can't do anytthing about it.
I have tried to export, modify, then import the GAL at such sites but it doesn't have any effect.
