Hello,

Recently we had an issue with a GAL import that went wrong, we ended up having to reimport the whole list from scratch and recreate all the contacts. Now when I email a contact I get the following -

A configuration error in the recipient's e-mail system prevented delivery of this message. Two recipients are configured with the same e-mail address.

So I search AD for the user and only find that contact in AD once, with all the correct details, SMTP, X400 etc etc (even if I compare a working contact and a non-working contact in a ldp dump they are the same and not missing any info)

When I open the GAL within outlook and browse for the user they show up. However if I click on Properties there is no SMTP address and the display shows as "/O=ExcOrg/OU=Office/cn=Contacts/cn=contact97866871" (im running Outlook 2007) when I click on the "Member Of" tab I get a information message in the bottom right saying "Unable to connect to retrieve additional data" We have tried a RUS rebuild and this hasnt fixed anything yet.

If anyone has any ideas on this please share as this is driving me crazy!!

Cheers,
Peter

After hours of troubleshooting we have worked out what the problem was. There where duplicate legacyExchangeDN values on some of the contacts that where imported. We used CSVDE to export these to csv (name, dn and legacyExchangeDN values), created a conditional format to show only duplicate legacyExchangeDN and then filtered to show only rows with the conditional format. Copied these values to a new sheet. Appended dn: to the front of the dn, deleted every other row (to remove one of the duplicates) and added Changetype: delete. We then saved this as a ldf and used ldifde to delete the duplicates. We then reimported the contacts to fix the problem (only adding the contacts that where not exsisting).
