Duplicate e-mails in outlook 2003

I have a couple users that are getting duplicate e-mails when they get an e-mail from a certain user. Any Idea what could be causing this?

It isn't down to rules on the local client is it?

Sometime users have Outlook rules but they cross reference each other and therefore you appear to get duplicate emails.

This was my 1st question to that user and he said he doesn't have any rules setup at all. Any Idea what might be causing it?

the user got duplicate e-mails again from another user. I checked the message ID on both e-mails and it was different. No Rules set either.

Ok, how about this then:

Back up their mailbox to a PST.
Deleted their mailbox.
Create a new mailbox for them.
Import their mail from the PST.

still no luck... this is how our exchange enviornment is setup. When e-mails come in they go through our spam filter. Then they get routed to an exchange 2003 server acting as a relay to an exchange 2007 server which places the e-mail into the recepiants mailbox. Could that have something to do with why a few of the users are getting the duplicates. Keep in mind that this is not happening all the time. only certain e-mails for some reason.

Is there any type of setting on the exchange server that would cause duplication of some e-mails to some users.
