Dear Experts,

I've just relocate the Networker server from NT4 to W2K. All the client index and media info could be restored. Unfortunately, I discovered there are 2 "Default" group existed in same server. Is there any way to consolidate into one "Default" group?

For your information, the attached URL indicates how to relocate the Networker Server from one to another (P.S. the document indicate Unix -> Unix but it also works in NT -> W2K

Regards,

I guess you are using NW 6.2 or 7. Both versions use the new "resource database", where
- each resource reside in its own file
- the filename is the hexadecimal representation of the
resource id.

If you move the server the resource ids will change as well
which will result in resource duplicates.

If you run mmrecov and do not delete the existing resources
before you cope the resovered resource files, the old
resource files will not be overwritten which results in
duplicate resources.

So you need to delete/move the old res files before you
copy the recovered ones from \nsr\res.R

Thanks for advice in advance 605.

Actually I've tried 2 times about this scenario BUT I could not find any
\nsr\res.r folder after mmrecov - I suspect it overwrites the contents of \nsr\res folder whilist Networker service is running.

Since our objective is to relocate the Networker from NT server to W2K server using DIFFERENT host name. Is there any conflicts??

Regards,

Dear 605,

I thought I'd fixed the problem by removing duplicate entries under \nsr\res\db\<client name> folder after stopping NSR service. By restarting the service all the duplicate entries has been removed. I'll keep an eye on it to see if there is problem occur while backing up the data

Keep contact
