Hello - I'm using FileMaker Server 5.5 and FileMaker Pro 6. I have multiple databases hosted and a couple relational databases hosted. They are all available through the web companion. Today I've had some problems. when i open the databases and people start using them, a duplicate with less records appears in the FMP program. I close it and it shows up again later when someone accesses it. I did disk cleanup thinking perhaps there was a cache of it somewhere but that did not solve it. I recovered the file and that did not work. I need help. this is driving me nuts!

A wild guess!
Is there another copy hiding somewhere in your system? Do a search.
Is opne of your users making a copy?

Cheers,
Paul J.

No there are no other copies on that server. That was the first thing i checked. I will inquire if people have made a copy, and if that is the case i will yell at them because they know they shouldn't. If there are any other ideas, that would be great.

check users machines....and their plugins
perhaps they saved a copy and have websharing ON....scan a network for your default web sharing port# (if u dont have any tools look at GFI.com -languard network scanner)

Server side:
also, if they made a copy and "re-related" their copy to the main DBs it will be opened & shared.
I have noticed a few times that even if u use "Save As" and put your copy of your file in subfolder with respect to location of main files...the whole "save only realtive paths" in DB relations 'sometimes' pulls up a DB from that newly created subfolder...
so look for :
//Server/DB/problem_file.fp5
and also
//SERVER/DB/Joes Idea of his folder/problem_file.fp5

long shot but worth the try...

Good Luck!
