Hello, we have an old Merlin Legend system. One of our users wants another handset on a table in his office with the same extension as his desk phone. Is this possible with our system? Our handsets are MLX10-DP and our modules are 408 GS/LS MLX.

The documentation is not clear, although we have gone through it we can't find anything about such a configuration.

Thanks!

PK

You can use Shared System Access buttons on the 2nd phone. The SSA buttons will allow the phone to make calls as if it is the other extension, and they ring in as well. There are some ways to arrange the buttons on the set to make it work better, basically on the 2nd set, assign SA buttons on 1 through 6, then remove the SA buttons from 1 through 5, leaving only the SA button on 6. Then add the SSA buttons for the other extension on buttons 1 through 3, so they are in the same place no matter which phone you are using. Then change the auto line select for the 2nd phone to only grab the SSA buttons, and you're done.

Thanks TTT. So, if I am not mistaken, this method still uses another port on our system? I was hoping there was a way to "link" the two handsets so they share the port. Is this something the "Adjunct" port underneath the handset does?

Thanks

PK

No, no way to share 2 extensions on one telephone port (ok, you could add an adjunct card into the phone and drive a single line phone, but that's not what you're asking for here). So yes, you are going to need another station port, with another extension number, and with the SSA buttons, calls will look like they are being made from the one extension.

as what TTT says but I always leave the original station with a the station and a extra org in case to transfer

even when you are on the SSA ,the recep will see the original station in use and not the desk phone
