Duplicat read reciepts

We have a number of users that keep getting duplicat read reciepts from there emails, in some cases 1 a minuet.
Does anybody know how to stop this. I have checked the recipiant mail boxes and deleted the offending mail and also deleted it from the original sent items. Please help this seems to be on the increase.
