Hi,

We have recently purchased a number of new Dell Optiplex 755 PC's which have the Intel Pentium Duo Core processors. When we image the PC's with our universal XP image, it does not support the Duo Core processor. In task manager there is only one processor recognised.

Is there any way of changing the HAL in XP to support the Duo Core processors without having to re-install XP? At present it is set to Advanced Configuration and Power Interface - I would like to change this to the Multi=Processor ACPI HAL.

I have done searches on Microsoft Support and all they can suggest is a re-install of XP, selecting the Multiprocessor HAL.

These are semi-related, some say you can other say a repair install is required.
