DUN Woes! (error 629)

I have had to reinstall the TCP/IP drivers on the pdc 2 times in the last 2 months, due to the dreaded Error 629!! (This seems to be the only cure) We are using DUN via proxy software for the office internet connection. Is there something underlying that I can look for that would cause these TCP/IC problems?

what kind of proxy software are you using ?
Did you install some sort of proxy software on the server ?

The Proxy software is Wingate. I wasn't familiar with it when I inherited it (it has been on the server since its 'birth'), but after a year with it, it seems to be okay for our application. I haven't had any 'direct' problems with the proxy software thus far, but my lack of experience with proxy could make difficult problems that much more difficult.
