I'm trying to automate my backup using 'dump'. One of my file systems exceeds the 2GB limit. I am backup up to a hard drive so I don't really understand why intervention is required but when 'dump' hits the 2GB limit, even with -M, it still prompts for the next volume. How do I set this up to automatically start the next volume? TIA.

You'll have to provide a bit more information.
To start with, which flavor of UNIX? Then, in more detail, which version and filesystem?

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know what might be relevant. My UNIX is Mandrake 10.1, and the filesystem is ext3.
