Dump IE? Whodathunkit: c|net's reviewers were working overtime last week, as they put half a dozen browsers through their paces and came to the inescapable conclusion that using either Firefox or Netscape 8 -- which got the highest rating of the bunch -- was a better idea than using Internet Explorer. Of course, if you're using either Linux or a Mac, you're out of luck, and Netscape was forced to issue a patch the day after 8.0 was released.
All of that happened last Tuesday; by Thursday, the FUDdy-duddies in Redmond were warning everyone to uninstall Netscape 8. Why? Because after installing Netscape 8, IE renders XML pages as a blank page. Pretty sneaky, those folks in Mountain View...
There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
