I am running nt4 and sybase 11.5

I am running out of space on one server and my
DUMP DATABASE to 'd:\sybase\backup\ddd.dump' is 2.4 gig now

I want to send the dump to another server on my domain but when I do
DUMP DATABASE to 'f:\backup\ddd.dump'
or
DUMP DATABASE to '\\otherserver\backup\ddd.dump'
or
DUMP DATABASE to MY_BACKUP_DEVICE

I get the error (something like) create file cannot be performed - check OS documentation.

I can see the drive and have full access to it from explorer and command prompt - so why doesn't it work for sybase backup...

Any help out there...

PS I want to keep sending dump to hard drive id possible - that way my tape backups can work easier and quicker...

If you want to make a dump on an external server the BACKUP SERVICE has to have the rights to access this server. Standard the services are configured with the system account and this account has no right on other computers. Go to the service and define another account that has rights on that server . Thanks Wim

Could you please tell me how and where to set this up. I usually use Sybase Central...

Any help would save my job!!!

for windows NT :
configuration screen - services -sybbck_ servername - BS
this account : choose an account with administrator privileges

for win2000 this is similar but i have no example here
