DUH. Crop Tool is locked?????

I've been trying to crop images I've opened up in Photoshop CS: one was a bitmap, and the other a PDF. The crop tool will only let me draw a PROPORTIONAL Crop box -- meaning a perfect square. My images I want to crop are rectangular.

I thought I could do this before with no problem. Is there a setting (in preferences, maybe??) that I've accidentally toggled on or off that's preventing me from doing so?

You may have set a crop tool preset by mistake. Click on the little down arrow next to the crop tool icon at the top left of your window. When the dialog box opens click on the arrow in the top right corner of it. This will open a menu. Select 'Reset Tool' from it. That will probably sort it out.
