I've installed Windows2000Advanced Server and like to have a Linux Installation as well on the same machine. Is there a way to do it (Dualboot) ?
Many thanks for your help!
Thomas
Sure is .... Just ready the new partition for linux ..(with either partition magic <easy way> or use fips <not so easy>

The LILO program will take care of most things after you install Linux.. (Press tab key to see a list of operating system on your machine ... type in the name of the one you want and weeeheeey)

Puck™
tjaeggi, check the thread with Mike Lacey, five pages back (partitioning a 9 GB drive) and the FAQ on this forum. If you have any problems, let me know.
Octalman

Bearing in mind this is a whole new OS (so they say ;^), has anyone got actual experience of dual-booting Linux with Win2K? I've heard rumours that Win2K does things to the MBR that will mess up LILO and friends...

--
I think you'd better use NT OS Loader to manage win2k and linux.
suppose win2k on MBR:

1. install linux on separate partiton eg. /dev/hda5
2. dump its first record
dd if=/dev/hda5 of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1
3. modify boot.ini file:
maybe add linux=bootsect.lnx ^_^
